What a CROQUE of cheese

It had to happen. Not content with baking mouth-watering sweet stuffed croissants, we finally decided to cross over to the other side of the breakfast bar, with our first ever savoury filled croissant. Hold onto your berets people…

We call it ‘The Croque’, as in a Croque Monsieur, which is traditionally made with fried bread on the outside, rather than baked buttery pastry. And we’ve fiddled a little with the filling too – not content with ordinary ham and cheese alone, we’ve gone with a decadent combination of rich béchamel sauce, smoked ham and three, yes THREE layers of oozy, molten cheese – gruyere, parmesan and cheddar.

To top it all off, we’ve sprinkled the top with a mixture of breadcrumbs and even more parmesan cheese, to create a golden crunchy layer – the perfect contrast to the smooth and gooey cheese inside.

But get in early – when the 100 Croques are gone, they’re gone.  And please think of your fellow humans and only get one per person :)
