As a business owned and operated by three dad’s, we at Shepherd’s are usually in the know about what cool events are on for Father’s Day in Sydney.
But this year we’re excited to announce we won’t just be attending a great Father’s Day event, we’ll be hosting one – and it involves three of our favourite things; pies, beer and mates.
This Father’s Day in Sydney, we’re teaming up with local craft brewer Willie the Boatman to create our very own, mouth-watering Beef and Beer Pie made with Willie’s small batch Oatmeal Stout.
The limited-edition pie will be sold across the Father’s Day weekend (Sat 1 and Sun 2 September) in a Pop Up Pie-Shop within Willie the Boatman’s St Peter’s brewery. Only 300 pies are being handmade at the Bakehouse, so it’s first come, first served at Willie’s Mary St premises on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm.

The pie filling was created using Willie the Boatman’s Oatmeal Stout; an intense, fruity dark beer which was a favourite of staff and customers at the brewery this winter. The filling also contains premium Aussie beef steak, plus carrots, mushroom, onions and herbs. Unlike the normal Shepherd’s pasty shape, this limited edition pie is made in the traditional pie (tinned) shape, to make it easier to devour with one hand. We really have thought of everything!
The Beef & Beer will also be sold at our own cafes from Wed 29th August in the week ahead of Father’s Day both hot (ready to eat) and cold in take-home-and-bake packs of four. Pick up a pack on Friday and pop in the oven for a delicious Father’s Day lunch with zero time wasted in the kitchen!
